Dr. Deanna O'Neil
Dr. Deanna O'Neil joined South Bend Children's Dentistry, P.C. in 2008, she took over the practice in 2012. Dr. O'Neil is a native of La Crosse, Wisconsin. She graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Biology, then went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Marquette. She completed her Pediatric Dental Residency at Temple University Health Complex.
Dr. O'Neil is a member of the Mishawaka Dental Society, Indiana Dental Association, American Dental Association and The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. O'Neil has hospital privileges at Memorial Hospital of South Bend and St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. She is currently Vice-Chair of the Dental Department at Memorial Hospital and is on the Cleft Palate Clinic.
Dr. O'Neil enjoys biking, horses, and spending time with her boys. Dr. O'Neil and her late husband Peter have two boys, Joseph and Francis.
When asked why she wanted to become a dentist, Dr. O'Neil replied "I love working with children. I volunteered 4 years in college at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin Dental Center!"
Dr. Stephen Spiritoso
Dr. Stephen Spiritoso joined South Bend Children's Dentistry in July 2017. Dr. Spiritoso is a native of South Bend and graduate of Penn High School. He graduated from Purdue University with Highest Honors, and then attended The Ohio State University Dental School. He graduated magna cum laude with his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2015. Dr. Spiritoso completed his pediatric dental residency training at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. While in residency, he received a Master of Science degree in Pediatric Dentistry from The Ohio State University. Dr. Spiritoso's research focused on Pediatric Dental Education and the microbiology of tooth decay. He is published in the Journal of Dental Education.
Dr. Spiritoso met his wife Katie (Watkins) at Purdue University and married in 2014. She is also a native of South Bend and graduated from St. Joseph High School. She is currently a clinical pharmacist at Elkhart General Hospital. He and his family are very excited to be back in their hometown. Dr. Spiritoso feels extremely privileged and honored to be able to take care of the families in the community in which he grew up.
Dr. Spiritoso is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Indiana Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Indiana Dental Association, North Central Dental Society, and the Mishawaka Dental Society. He has hospital privileges at both Memorial Hospital in South Bend and St. Joseph Medical Center in Mishawaka.
